my fave YouTube channel

These moms are so funny, creative and sweet. I love watching what they will come up with next! They are a must subscribe channel! Great job as always What’s Up Moms.

favorite videos include this one linked below, “I’m So Pregnant Parody”, “Disney Collector Parody” (since Avery recently has found channels on You Tube that open toys) and Meg’s homemade fruit roll- up recipe (I could actually make that and probably not screw it up, lol).

july recap

“oh i don’t know why but i’ve always loved the idea of summer and sun and all things hot” ~Olaf

July was filled with fun.  Swim lessons, 4th of July festivities, Palm Springs getaway for mom and dad, visit from Grandma Libby, concerts in the park, movies and beach trips.  Making memories is what it is all about and we’ve had some good ones.

recital weekend

Avery’s first dance recital was the weekend of June 20th-22nd.  This was such a fun weekend and verryyyyy busy.  Dress rehearsals, two performances (three for the big girls) and pictures on Sunday.  The excitement of the weekend reminded me so much of being young and getting those butterflies before going on stage.  It was so fun to also watch the older girls/boys, especially the graduating seniors in high school.  They all work so hard and are so passionate about dancing.  Their enthusiasm is infectious! Avery was part of a large dance that danced to “Stars and Stripes Forever” so about an 8 minute routine.  Her teacher decided to combine all of her ballet classes from Avery’s age up to pre-teens.  My husband was doing a big no-no and videotaping in the audience but he got most of her part.  They were supposed to 1. run on stage and do arabesques 2. point and tap and plié 3. do a few sautés 4.blow a kiss and 5. run in a big circle off stage waving bye <—- this was the part my hub forgot to get on video, which is basically the cutest part because what 3-year-old doesn’t love to run around and wave?

Looks just like all that right? 🙂

Avery’s best friend Noah came Friday night and brought her violet roses because purple is her favorite color, i mean the cuteness was almost tangible.

Thank you Georgia’s School of Dance for such a sweet group of dancers and teachers! i hope we have many more recitals to come!

disneyland before summer

Made a little Disney trip before the summer blackout starts.  Avery experienced Splash Mountain for the first time, and loved it! Does this mean she is gonna be a thrill seeker and be jumping out of airplanes someday? #pleaseno. We watched the parade and saw the princesses with her two friends Taylor and Peyton.  I wanted to bring Hayes but with it being busy and hot i decided to leave him at home with Grammy since she luckily has Mondays off.  Avery and Peyton rolled around in our double stroller like princesses themselves and i got my workout pushing around two 35+ pound 3-year-olds. Until next time Disney!♥

evacuated again

Shane and i had just moved into our new apartment in 2007 when we got evacuated from the Witch Creek Fire when it jumped the 15 freeway.

The Cocos Fire that sparked up this month had us packing yet again.  Shane was at work of course and i was at home with the kids.  I had the news on but as the wind picked up and i saw the smoke getting closer and closer i knew it was time to at least put my stuff in the car.  I had packed the night before and everything was sitting in my closet.  When i saw ash beginning to fall in my yard i decided to hit the road.  Of course the photo albums and important documents were ready to go, i grabbed my wedding dress in it’s box (i plan on doing one of those photo shoots with Avery sitting in it) got the kids strapped in their seats, put the dog in the car and headed out.  The reverse 911’s went out about 20 minutes after i had left the house.  Shane left work and went by the house to do a final walk through, i’m surprised the roads weren’t blocked off at that point.  We were only away from our home for one night, many other people were away from their homes for much longer.  My heart goes out to the people who lost their homes and my sincere thanks to the firefighters and emergency personnel who keep all of us safe.

Photos of the Cocos Fire on Wednesday day/evening and Thursday morning when we got evacuated.
